The Cost of One’s Decision

A trafficked teenager caught in the middle—
An enraged cartel boss, looking for revenge—

The Cost of One’s Decision is an adrenalized, fast paced thriller with a tale taken directly from today’s headlines – a story of Mexican cartels profiting from the newest cash cow of illicit activity—

Human trafficking for sexual exploitation.

In response to a secret Presidential Executive Order, the CIA has created the blackest of black units to end this scourge.

Its mission: to send an undeniable message to the criminals behind this insidious trade by assassinating each cartel’s overlord, starting with the most notorious and ruthless of them all – Jorge Manuel de Corazón.

Everything was going according to plan until Murphy’s Law tossed the proverbial monkey-wrench into the fray, and now the black ops team leader – known simply as “One” – has gone from the hunter to the hunted, along with one of the cartel’s trafficked victims.

Can One and his young companion evade dozens of cartel gang members, the corrupt state police, and the advanced technology at the cartel’s disposal to finally escape?

Even if they can, what will it cost each of them to achieve their freedom?

Find out this and much more in The Cost of One’s Decision!

Together By Accident

A misty, damp Saturday morning at the Co-op turned out to be more than just a routine grocery shopping trip for Carson.

In the blink of an eye, cars are smashing into each other right in front of him; as a stunned Carson watches, a young skateboarder on the sidewalk goes from pedestrian to victim.

Though retired, his EMT training kicks in automatically – Carson rushes to the young man’s aid, and just in time too, because the skater is bleeding out quickly, on the brink of death.

But no good deed goes unpunished. As a result of the rescue, Carson is thrust back into the biased eye of the media and the police, forced once more to revisit a past life that he thought he had paid for and put behind him.

That past doesn’t matter to Tegan, the young skater Carson saved. As a result, Carson finds himself in a budding relationship with Tegan, one that he’d hoped to have all his life, but one he never thought possible because of his past and his own self-doubts.

Now, Together by Accident, will Carson make something of their relationship, something that will last, or will Carson’s past and his fears crush it before it can blossom?

What Readers Are Saying

“What a daring story! It gripped me from the get-go, and when I learned about Carson, a was shocked and almost stopped reading – but the set-up for the plot was too captivating. I had to know what happened and by the end, found myself rooting for both Carson’s and Tegan’s success! What a lucky guy Carson is to have come together by accident with Tegan!”

“As a gay man who’s boyfriend is 12 years younger, this story resonated with me completely. The storyline had me guessing throughout! I was on pins and needles, wondering how it would end, and hoping for both Carson’s and Tegan’s success in being a couple! This is a must-read for anyone who loves male-to-male romance!”

Come Full Circle

When you wage war, you expect the unexpected— But becoming someone else? Never.

Murder, rape and mass execution are all in a day’s work for Lt. Colonel Vasiliy Morozov and his brigade of battle-hardened Russian soldiers. But what he experiences in the Ukrainian village of Zarozhne shatters his perception of himself.

Cursed by the village priest and knocked unconscious by an artillery barrage, now he is the victim, terrorized by soldiers, as things come full circle for him… Vasiliy’s understanding of war, of himself and his own sins, changes slowly but dramatically.

How will he react when he and a hundred others are on the receiving end of his own troops’ violence? Can he save them? Can he save himself?

Not for timid readers, Reese Halden’s moving war novel explores responsibility and redemption in a story that will shock you…

And have you cheering for the Good.

What Readers Are Saying

Kulder walks a tightrope in this story where a human monster is guided to redemption by divine guidance. Our protagonist is a hardened Russian general leading a horde of marauding soldiers through the Ukraine—medieval rape, pillage and plunder—who finds himself on the receiving end of his own brutality. His only hope is to use everything he’s learned in his rampages to do something good and heroic.

The danger in a story like this is “deus ex machina”: The idea that God’s going to save the day whenever the author gets himself into a tight corner. Kulder avoids this, primarily by focusing on the one thing that God “cannot” do: force a human to take the virtuous path. A quick, engrossing read!

Review on Come Full Circle

A horrific tale of atrocities and all-too-real world depictions of war. On the field of battle, the Bleeding Hearts of the Russian army aren’t the ones who hold compassion. They’re the ones who destroy, indiscriminately. Destroy and desecrate and damage whoever is left alive.

In the midst of such horror, there is still hope. And through the actions of a priest and an unbelievable turn of events. God moves.

Changes. Redeems.

Not for the faint of heart, but bitterly beautiful in its own way. The essence of humanity in the face of war.

Review on Come Full Circle

Heady mix of war atrocity and A Christmas Carol where the leading perpetrator of evil gets to experience life on the short end of the stick. The author provides justification for the leader’s cruelty, but that didn’t feel like it mattered to the story. Colonel Morozov is a bad man leading a bunch of bad men. No one wins when war comes and the helpless suffer at the hands of those who should best understand the importance of winning over the hearts and minds of the population. Colonel Morozov does not understand or care. Like Scrooge, he is who he is and acts accordingly. Without giving anything away, the colonel swaps bodies with one of his victims. What follows is a great story of redemption. Keep the tissues handy. Be aware, the author doesn’t pull any punches. I read the book with the equivalent of a hand over my eyes peering through a space between my fingers. I had to see what was next.

Review on Come Full Circle

Sometimes we face scary moments, but books like this help us realize our struggles are easier than others. Zayne is an amazing storyteller that weaves a story of a war-torn event from many sides of perspective. This is one of those tales that asks what an evil person would do if they were forced to suffer the evils they projected on the world?”

Would it change them for the better? Or chase them even further into causing worse atrocities?

Even though I struggle to read about real-life events, this tale was both too real to the world and far enough away that I found it kept me wanting more. This masterful tale has elements of some significant stories we all know so well but is unique in its own ways that make it special in its own rights. Expect to see the genuine horrors of war in all its glory and painful realities. Depending on what side of a war you are viewing it from, a simple step to the other side changes your outlook on everything, as this story shows us.

Good books captivate you, but outstanding books hold on to you tight and never let go. I would say this is an enhanced version of the latter. I could not stop reading it. They earned this heartfelt review after the first few chapters, but they gained a follower of their books after reading their debut novel.
